Paul Pernot is one of the largest landholders in Puligny-Montrachet, and along with their neighbors at Domaine Leflaive they have become synonymous with the finely etched, mineral driven Chardonnays of this famous village. But unlike Leflaive, their prices have barely risen over the past decade.Paul Pernot founded the domaine in 1955 and he and sons have been expanding it ever since. They now have 19 hectares, but close to 80% of their fruit is sold to negociants like Drouhin. What they bottle themselves is some of their best parcels. Today Paul’s grandsons Paul and Philippe and his great-granddaughter Alvina are at the helm and they continue the tradition of quality farming and meticulous winemaking.
