Domaine Pignier

The Pignier family can trace their roots in the small town of Montaigu, 40 km south of Arbois, back to the 13th century. They're actually the only family still making wine in this hamlet, ensuring that their organic and biodynamic farming isn't marred by any stray chemicals from neighboring farmers. Unsurprisingly, given their incredible family history in the Jura, their wines are deeply traditional, terroir-driven and influenced by the diverse soil types of the region. The vines are planted on a strata of clay, limestone, shale and marl and their wines age in mostly used Burgundy barrels deep underground in their cold, medieval-era cellar. A new discovery for us and one we are very happy to have made!
