He pioneered bottling single vineyard parcel specific wines in Montagny, he recognized that there were worthy individual characteristics to his vineyard sites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eWhen he started as a teenager just out of wine school the scene in Montagny was all about Cave de Coopérative Vignerons de Buxy; there were very few independent vignerons. He rented three hectares from a grower in his hometown of Montagny-lès-Buxy who was retiring. He was a local but was not born to a winegrowing family. Stéphane had to prove to his neighbors that he was there for the long haul. He bought his original rented parcels and has expanded his domaine to 7 hectares. He is now the old guard in Montagny and probably the most respected grower in the village.
