Fourth-generation brothers Mickael and Romaric tend 6ha of vines and 25 head of dairy cows at this certified-organic Pupillin estate. Nearly half the vineyard area is planted to Poulsard (they use the Ploussard spelling preferred in Pupillin), and the result is a textbook example of a Poulsard needing a decant to shed the reduction encouraged in this grape by marl soils.
What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...
Crinquand’s version of Trousseau from Pupillin is vinified in barrel in similar manner to his Ploussard, and is more fine and elegant than the other Trousseaux in our portfolio and is less rustic than Crinquand’s Ploussard. The Trousseau plantings are isolated in vineyards the composition of which is a classic mix of clay and limestone dominated by small pebbles and stones.
