Weingut Knebel, Riesling Bruckstuck, 2012

Blue slate dominates Brückstück. The wine has more residual sugar than any of the others but finds balance with the other elements of this stellar 2012 renowned for its length, intensity, and finesse. Though all four of Knebel's sites are in the same village and are vinified using the same methods, the differences in soil composition and vine exposure produce remarkably different wines at this highly-esteemed Mosel estate.

Weingut Knebel

Matthias Knebel is in the top tier of young, talented and terroir-driven winemakers in the Mosel. At just 34 years old he has already been helping his parents run their small estate for a decade. Now he is firmly in command of the entire operation.

The Knebel family has been making wine in the region for over 400 years, but the current estate was carved out by Matthias' parents in 1990. Most of the vines are 40-70 years old, and they come from a few very distinct parcels with unique terroirs.
