Weingut K.F. Groebe is a historic VDP estate in Westhofen, Rheinhessen, focused on classical Riesling expressions. Their 2023 Kabinett is sourced from 25-year-old vines in the Aulerde vineyard, grown on loess and clay above the Rhine.

Harvested early for freshness, it’s tank-fermented to preserve aromatics and bright acidity. With moderate alcohol and gentle residual sweetness, it’s a mineral-driven Kabinett ideal for lighter fare and spicy cuisine.

Weingut Groebe is a small estate that sustainably farms about 9 hectares of some top parcels in Westhofen. German import specialist Dee Vines discovered this producer at the Bad Kreuznach auction tasting in 2018, which happened to be Fritz Groebe’s first time presenting there. When they discovered that he was good friends with the Kellers (whom they also import) and that Klaus-Peter highly recommended his wines it was a done deal to start bringing them to the U.S.

Fritz and his wife Manuela are the current proprietors, but the family has been making wine for many generations and the estate goes back some 250 years. That intergenerational knowledge combined with the special terroir they have inherited is what makes their wines (and of course those of Keller too) so distinctly delicious.
