This has always been a blend of their best sights in Anderson Valley the 2018 La Selva takes a barrel or two from esteemed Kiser and Abel vineyards in the cooler deep end of the valley, which contribute a black-fruited intensity to the wine, as well as Demuth Vineyard, perched high above Boonville, which provides more red fruit and a mountain-born rusticity. This is grippy, a classic Anderson valley quality and shows freshly-picked black raspberries and crushed red rose. Like all great Pinot this will get more savory and umami with time. Packed dried black fruits, forest floor, porcini, and smoky mineral this has everything we love about Pinot Noir in spades.
