When he died suddenly in 2011, his grandchildren, Gilda and Edoardo, dropped what they were doing to carry the torch (editor's note: don't be fooled by this poor attempt at a pun—il torchio means "the press" in Italian, referring to grapes or olives).

This little family producer doesn't cut any corners. They farm the steep hills organically and work by hand, including harvesting everything manually. They ferment with natural yeasts. And yet, the wine is incredibly fairly priced. you'd think with all the tourists passing by they’d be able to cut some corners and sell the wine without too much trouble. But that wouldn't do justice to their terroir or what their grandfather started.
