Limited Addition
Oregon’s Willamette Valley has been having something of a golden age, but that doesn’t stop Chad Stock and Bree Stock MW from thinking hard about its future.

Already well rooted in the region—Chad as the cult winemaker behind Minimus, Omero, Origin and Craft, and Bree an Australian expat, consulting winemaker and Master of Wine who fell in love with Oregon and quickly became the state wine board’s educational director—this power couple is paying close attention to the state's very rapid wine development.

Investment, an influx of global talent and perspective, and worldwide acclaim have helped the Valley in many ways, but less of the benefit is trickling down to vulnerable growers and vineyard workers. Oregon’s long been a place where anyone with a dream could theoretically make wine, and Chad and Bree want to keep it that way.

That’s why they're putting their considerable talent toward wines that fulfill their environmental, social and political values. Limited Addition, their aptly named independent project, has a stated mission to champion both regenerative farming and the health of their surrounding community. How do they do it? By lengthening the picking and pruning seasons with a mixture of early- to late-ripening varieties, ensuring long-term salaried positions for vineyard workers. By cultivating and promoting a wide variety of grapes to encourage less economic reliance on Pinot Noir (in a region where this challenging and not-especially-climate-change-proof grape makes up 70% of plantings). By partnering with local nonprofits to create educational and professional opportunities for workers from diverse backgrounds.

In short, they’re pretty amazing people. Fortunately, even if you didn’t know about any of these wonderful things they do, the wine speaks for itself.
