Domaine Diochon farms their old vines (50-85+ years) sustainably and make the wine in the traditional way, with whole clusters in concrete with only minute doses of sulfur.

Moulin-à-Vent is generally considered the most regal — the most serious — of the 10 Crus. It can be more tannic than most of the other Crus — even when it’s made in the traditional carbonic style. And Diochon is true to its manganese-rich, granite terroir: the wine is plenty elegant, but it does have the chew to stand up to a burger or even a steak. The wines really start to sing after a year or so in the bottle — and will easily age for up to 10 years.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

"The 2005 Moulin-a-Vent was tasted in London and is one of many 2005 Beaujolais wines that has repaid cellaring, albeit in this case more modestly than others. It has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry leaf, touches of forest floor and a touch of cold granite. The palate is medium-bodied with tart cherry fruit on the entry. There is a citric edge with a slightly angular finish." -Robert Parker

"Fresh and rich yet lively. Silky texture and gorgeous fruit with real vitality."
