Domaine Ruet is a traditional, humble estate based in Voujon, near the foot of Mont Brouilly. Kathy Ruet is a 4th generation vigneron and leads the small dedicated team there. Everything they do is “classic” Beaujolais, in the best sense. Farming is lutte raisonée (sustainable with organic practices) and the harvest is done by hand. The cellar is gravity fed and all the Crus undergo semi-carbonic maceration before being racked into a combination of stainless steel tanks and neutral barrels for aging. A couple of years ago our friends at Schatzi Imports, a new European wine importing company, picked up these wines and introduced them to us: we were immediately impressed with the quality, terroir transparency and excellent value.
