The von Kesselstatt family was envied for their collection of sites from the Mosel's most lauded vineyards including Piesport's Goldtröpfchen, Kaseler Nies’chen in the Ruwer, and Saar's Scharzofberg. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eBut it was the vision of Annegret Reh-Gartner, a rare female vigneron in a profession and region dominated by men, who, starting in 1983, who shaped the current profile of the estate. She whittled the estate down to a manageable 46 hectares of only the best parcels. This allowed for a more quality-focused regimen of hand harvesting, careful sorting and gentle handling of the grapes and wine, elevating the quality along the way. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eShe garnered the respect of her colleagues, including friend Egon Muller (with whom they are two of the four owners of Scharzhofberg) and was an energetic evangelist for Riesling around the world.
