Weingut Karl Haidle

Württemberg is definitely the most obscure wine region featured in this offer, but not one to be overlooked for lovers of interesting, organic, and delicious wines.

Started back in 1949 by Moritz Haidle's grandfather, Karl, when the region was only knows for cheap, glugable reds churned out of the co-op. It was Moritz's father Hans who took over the reigns at 23 and fashioned the estate towards site-expressive wines, focused on Riesling and eventually joined the VDP (Germany's quality winegrower association).

Mortiz now organically farms 23 hectares of mostly old vine Riesling and Lemberger (the name for Blaufränkisch in Germany). The grapes are processed in his gravity fed cellar into his grandfathers 70+ year old neutral barrels, with extended lees contact, no fining and only a touch of sulphur.

Haidle's wines are easily the most delicious way to be introduced to the land of Württembergn and should not be missed.
