B-P’s Bourgogne all comes from a single vineyard that is still within the commune of Meursault but just outside the official borders of the AOC in a site called “Les Herbeux”. Astonishingly, B-P’s vines here are nearing 70 years old (there is also a younger parcel that is not yet used for this wine), and they performed magnificently in the great white Burgundy vintage of 2017.

Yes, this is as good a value as it sounds. Burghound gives it two hearts: “Outstanding” and “Top Value”. We can’t stop drinking it ourselves.

Vincent Bitouzet has been in partnership with famed importer Neil Rosenthal for over 30 years, bringing classic, old-school Burgundy to wine lovers in the U.S. His great-great-grandfather established the domaine, and when Vincent married Anne Prieur she brought along her own family history of winemaking along with significant vineyard holdings. Today the domaine is about 12 hectares in Volnay and Meursault.

All of the Bitouzet-Prieur vineyards are farmed organically. Copper is kept to a minimum and sexual confusion is employed to reduce insect infestations. winemaking is very traditional, native yeast fermentation and aging in mostly used barrique.

What importer Rosenthal Wine Merchant has to say about this wine...

The parcel for this cuvée is the lieu-dit in Meursault known as “Les Herbeaux”, in the northern quadrant of Meursault just underneath the 1er Cru “Les Malpoiriers”. Bitouzet exploits 0.71 hectares and the vines were planted in 1953 with a section recently replanted in 2010 which is not yet in production.
