Domaine Moreau-Naudet Chablis 2019

Lovely Chablis that is a touch fuller-bodied than typical for AC Chablis, and you might confuse this for a premier cru. Stephane Moreau, who founded the estate, sadly passed away a few years back and it is now in the fully capable hands of his wife, Virginie.

We have run out of stock for this item.

Domaine Moreau-Naudet is a great source for excellent, nonconformist Chablis. Taking cues from legendary producers like Raveneau and Dauvissat, Moreau-Naudet makes ripe, shapely Chablis that define minerality with deeply concentrated substance. The flinty and austere wines that have become the norm for this region are less a reflection of the region’s true terroir and more a side-effect of high yield, early picking and machine harvesting. Moreau-Naudet does the opposite. By picking late and harvesting by hand, as well as tending their vineyards biodynamically, Moreau-Naudet is able to make complex wines that many Chablis producers with wines similarly priced have not.

Winemaker Stephane Moreau suffered an untimely and tragic death in August 2016. When he passed unexpectedly it sent a shock through Burgundy and the wine world beyond. However, his family and assistant winemaker rallied and worked hard to maintain Stephane's racy and detailed style for the 2016 vintage. Since then Stephane’s wife, Virginie Moreau-Naudet, has carried on her late husband’s philosophy and style with resounding success. Tasting these wines today we feel inspired and grateful for her and her family’s perseverance.

"The 2019 Chablis Village clearly has much more precision and terroir expression compared with the Petit Chablis. The palate is well balanced with a citrus, quite spicy entry, veins of stem ginger towards the harmonious finish. For early drinking only." -Vinous

"Ripe and golden like the Petit Chablis. Rich, almost honeyed on the palate, the citrus flavours are so ripe. But as with the Petit Chablis, this is very well balanced with the freshness of the region with a mouth-watering and intense, slightly spicy aftertaste."
