Generally the most forward and early drinking Cru, Montmains from Louis Michel is always classic.

We have run out of stock for this item.

Chablis is the motherland of crisp, unoaked and mineral-driven Chard. It's where it was invented. Chablis' chalky soils and cool climate make perfectly crisp, racy, white wine that tastes a little different than Chardonnay from anywhere else in the world, even the rest of Burgundy.

One of the long standing "classic" producers of Chablis is the Domaine Louis-Michel. This family owned and operated estate has been producing Chablis for almost 200 years. The Domaine was the first in Chablis to make 100% stainless steel, oak-free wine (they thought it showed the grape and terroir flavors better).

Today it is Guillaume Michel who is at the helm, and he farms and makes the wine in much the same way that it was done by his ancestors. Yes, some innovations have taken hold, but in the end the focus of the domaine is on pure, terroir driven wines.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The 2018 Chablis Montmain 1er Cru is slightly earthier on the nose at first, opening up to reveal delicate pressed flower scents and a touch of melted wax. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little pithier than Michel’s other cuvées, and quite saline toward the finish. Very fine." -Vinous

"The 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Montmain offers up a gently leesy nose of dried white flowers and orchard fruit, followed by a voluminous, fleshy, medium to full-bodied palate that displays good definition despite its amplitude. I suspect it will tighten up with further élevage." -Robert Parker
