Fruit for this lovely Pinot was completely destemmed before crushing. Fermentation on the skins commenced for 12-15 before racking. The wine was then bottled after aging for 12 months in barrel (15% new). The resulting wine is a bright and deep red color highlighted by notes of violet.
It has n expressive nose with aromas of red fruit and cherries, and only a discrete touch of oak. The palate shows supple tannins, with good fruit and freshness, and an elegant finish.

"The 2016 Saint-Romain Rouge is surprisingly deep in colour. It has a tightly-wound bouquet with red cherries and blackberry, a hint of briary developing with time. The palate is full of sappy red fruit, quite saline in the mouth with assertive but not aggressive tannins and a pinch of white pepper on the finish. Excellent." -Neal Martin
