Terra Alpina is the range Alois Lageder makes with partner growers across the wider Dolomiti area. Lageder is a family winery in Alto Adige founded in 1823, which farms all its own vineyards biodynamically and pushes its growers to go organic or biodynamic too. For this cuvée, Lageder draws on vineyards in Magrè, Salorno and northern Trentino, most of them trained on the traditional pergola. The vines grow in soils that are mostly Dolomitic limestone with some volcanic porphyry, and the area sees big swings between day and night temperatures. The house calls the Dolomiti Alpine and Mediterranean at once, cool and mild, rugged rock and green hills. That is a fair description of what a good everyday white should be too.
