Alois Lageder, the sixth-generation family winery in Magrè, created it as a \"gateway\" wine for partner growers converting to organic and biodynamic farming, since EU organic certification takes at least three years of organic farming. It also takes in organically farmed edge rows next to neighbouring vineyards. Those rows can never be certified, because a neighbour's sprays might drift over. Once a grower is certified, their grapes move into Lageder's main range and new growers take their place, so the blend changes from year to year. The first vintage brought together more than 14 white and red varieties from different altitudes and soils across Alto Adige. Lageder says that from the 2024 vintage on, every wine it makes is certified organic or biodynamic except this one, and that's exactly the point.
