The vines grow on clay and limestone on south-facing slopes in Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga, at 260 to 370 meters. The winemaking is old-school: native yeasts, three weeks on the skins, then 12 months in French and Austrian oak casks of various sizes, so the oak sits behind the fruit and the place. Spring rain and downy mildew cut yields in 2022, but a sunny late August and September brought the grapes to full ripeness.
