Hamilton went into partnership with L.L. Baker, selling tools and provisions to miners and ranchers out of a canvas tent in Gold Country. The label is a tribute to the old Baker \u0026amp; Hamilton catalogues, which were packed with drawings of equipment, and the family still farms its Oakville vineyard with versions of those same tools. We find that a lot more charming than another embossed crest. The fruit comes from Vine Hill Ranch, at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. Grapes from that site went into Beaulieu's Georges de Latour and the Robert Mondavi Reserve in the 1960s and '70s.
