It is roughly 85% Listán Negro filled out with rarities that barely exist anywhere else: Listán Prieto, Tintilla and Vijariego, all growing on their own roots in orange volcanic sand, silt and clay on some genuinely alarming slopes. Where his single-parcel bottlings each argue a point, this one is the balanced statement of the estate: whole-bunch fermented for five weeks in steel with nothing but hand cap-management, then a year of rest in mostly steel with a small share in older French barrels, unfined and unfiltered. Peña Santana founded the estate in 2017 after time abroad with Dirk Niepoort, and the vines here average forty years old, with some vines more than a century old.
