What is this wine?
Caroline Morey, wife of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and daughter of the respected vintner Jean-Marc Morey, produces some of the Côte de Beaune’s most exciting Chassagne-Montrachet wines from her family’s old vineyards. Working alongside her husband in Chassagne, Caroline crafts wines with the same precision and low-intervention ethos: organic farming, native yeast fermentations, no bâtonnage, and minimal new oak.
The Chassagne-Montrachet 2023 is sourced from several small, old-vine parcels around the village, planted on classic limestone and clay soils. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole-cluster pressed, and aged in mostly used 350L barrels for about 18 months, yielding a wine that captures both the depth and tension characteristic of Caroline’s refined style.
Why get this wine?
This is benchmark village-level Chassagne-Montrachet, balancing richness and minerality with elegance and restraint. The 2023 vintage—ripe yet vividly fresh—highlights Caroline’s finesse as a winemaker: purity of fruit, shimmering acidity, and impeccable balance. For collectors and Burgundy lovers, this is one of the finest introductions to her domaine’s style.
What does this wine taste like?
Expressive and precise, with white peach, lemon curd, almond, and crushed stone aromas. The palate is textural and focused, showing layered fruit, chalky minerality, and a long, saline finish.
When should you drink this wine?
Drink 2026–2036. Decant for 30–45 minutes if young. Superb with lobster, scallops, or roast chicken with morels.
