The weather helped, especially on the Right Bank: an almost rainless August produced tiny, sugar-rich grapes, the Merlot ripened beautifully and the Cabernet Franc was very high quality too. The blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines averaging 47 years old. Yields were kept to a low 32 hl\/ha, and the wine spent 18 months in all-new oak. (A bonus fact: the name comes from the red-fleshed \"Pavie peaches\" that grew on the hillside before it was planted to vines.)
