Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau, the fifth generation, now runs the domaine with the kind of fussiness few estates can match. Yields are kept low, and the domaine works with top coopers on very low-toast barrels in unusual shapes, including long, slim \"cigars.\" The 2019 is estate-grown, dry-farmed and hand-picked, then fermented and aged in barrel, large formats included. One thing to know about the label: the domaine bottled it as Vin de France, not Pouilly-Fumé. On release this was the most closed wine in the range, all structure and promise, so the magnum is the right call.
