The parcel is tiny, about 0.6 hectares (1.4 acres) of light-coloured, lighter-textured soil studded with limestone rocks, and most of the vines date to 1974, with some from 1964. All of de Vogüé's vines are ploughed and get no chemical fertilizers, with herbs planted between the rows to keep pests in check.
