The clos covers the whole geological sequence of Nuits-Saint-Georges, with Ladoix limestone at the bottom, Premeaux limestone in the middle and white oolite at the top, plus ochre silt in places. That's an entire hillside's worth of Pinot Noir in one bottle. The domaine has farmed biodynamically since 2003. Géraldine Godot, a microbiologist and oenologist, took over technical direction in 2014, and since then the house has kept extraction to a minimum and used less new oak, which gives this famously muscular village a lighter touch. For 2024 the grapes were fully destemmed and fermented on native yeasts for 19 days in stainless steel. The wine then spent 15 months in French barrels, 40% of them new. The 2024 season kept growers on edge. A cool, damp flowering in June cost some clusters, then warm, fairly dry weather from August ripened the rest, and picking ran from 18 to 21 September in fine weather.
