Only 5% of Domaine de l'Arlot's 14 hectares is Chardonnay, so the house's whites are scarce in any year. This one comes from the Clos de l'Arlot, a walled monopole in Prémeaux, just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. The Clos sits in an amphitheatre left by an old quarry and takes its name from a spring that rises at the bottom of the plot. The white section is rugged, rocky ground on slopes so steep that all the vineyard work has to be done by hand. 2024 kept growers on edge, with a cool, damp flowering that cost clusters, before a warm August and a harvest in fine weather from 18 to 21 September. Géraldine Godot pressed whole bunches, fermented with native yeasts and gave the wine 12 months in barrel, only a quarter of it new and with no lees stirring. That restraint fits the lighter touch she brings to this biodynamic domaine.
