The clos was planted on the site of a former quarry, which gives it the shape of an amphitheatre. It's named for a spring that rises at the bottom of the plot and runs down into the Courtavaux. The red section covers two hectares on two very different soils: white oolite at the top, where the young vines grow, and marl full of fossil oysters at the bottom, home to old vines planted between 1939 and 1951. The vineyard has been organic since 2000 and biodynamic since 2003. The cellar moves wine by gravity instead of pumps. In 2024 a cool, damp flowering from around 10 June cost the domaine some clusters, but the ones that survived were well aired, and the harvest ran in fine weather from 18 to 21 September.
