The village wine comes from vines on the right bank of the Serein. They grow in Kimmeridgian marly limestone packed with marine fossils, and the soils around Fleys are known for fossilized snails, of which Alain keeps a few in the tasting room. The family's stated goal is a balance of fruit and minerality. The farming is careful without being showy: no weedkillers, ploughed or grassed rows, and yields kept down by disbudding.
