La Vida Es Un Carnaval is roughly sixty percent Saperavi with Rkatsiteli and Mtsvane co-fermented alongside it, which lands it between an amber wine and a light red, deeply colored and gently grippy but juicy rather than heavy. Qvevri are egg-shaped clay vessels lined with beeswax and sunk to the neck underground, where they hold a steady temperature and let the wine sit on its skins for months. Keti farms about four hectares organically and biodynamically at Artana, and the grapes still come down from the vineyard by horse. Foot-trodden, wild-yeast, unfiltered, no added sulfites.
