This is Donnas, the Valle d'Aosta's mountain expression of Nebbiolo, known locally as Picotendro, grown on south-facing terraces around 350 meters. Maceration runs two weeks, then the wine ages in 500-liter tonneaux before bottle time. It's Nebbiolo at altitude: leaner, brighter, and more high-toned than its Langhe cousins, with classic rose and cherry framed by an almond-tinged finish.
