That rock shows up in the glass as a firmer, stonier wine than a straight Bourgogne. This one comes from Guillaume Rouget, great-nephew of Henri Jayer, who founded Les Petits Lieux in 2023 with the oenologist Laure Guilloteau and works out of Jayer's restored cellar in Vosne-Romanée. Organic fruit, 100% destemmed, indigenous-yeast fermentation in concrete and stainless, then roughly 18 months in Burgundian barrels with very little new wood — a style built on finesse rather than muscle. 2024 was a small, hard-fought vintage whose best wines are fresh and finely drawn.
