Michel Fallon spent years in Selosse's vineyards and cellar before asking, in 2008, whether he could keep back a little fruit and make his own wine there. Selosse agreed, and the first Ozanne came out in 2012: all 400 bottles of it, sold only in France and Italy. Ozanne is a solera cuvée made entirely from Grand Cru Chardonnay grown on the chalk and limestone of the Côte des Blancs. The solera helps explain the house mix of warm, oxidative depth and real energy. The name comes from Avize itself: before 796 CE the village was called \"Ozanne la Belle.\" Production is still tiny, so it doesn't turn up often.
