Son of a Cornas stonemason and a first-generation vigneron, he started out as a wine-industry mechanic before getting his hands in the dirt with Matthieu Barret at Domaine du Coulet, eventually leasing vines from Matthieu and bottling his first Cornas in 2006. Today he farms 1.5 hectares in Cornas — including pieces of Chaillot, Les Mazards, and Saint Pierre — about 60% planted in the 1950s. Sustainable, manual farming, whole-bunch native fermentation, three-week macerations. The 2022 is explosively floral and perfumed from the start: violets, lavender, ripe blackberry and blueberry, bacon fat, dried green herbs, and a touch of warm spice.
