Andrea Franchetti, who restored an old farm here in 2000, noticed that Nerello Mascalese made different wines from one district to the next. From 2008 he bottled his top sites separately, which helped bring something like a cru system to Etna. The cellar work for these contrada wines is kept simple, so the site does the talking.
