The vineyard is a northwest-facing slope of Eocene basalt at 95 to 145 metres, planted to vines between 30 and 60 years old, and unlike the all-Garganega La Rocca it holds 30% Trebbiano di Soave in the blend. Everything happens in glass-lined concrete tulip tanks, 12 to 15 months on the fine lees and not a stave of oak, which leaves the volcanic soil doing the talking. 2024 was a punishing year in Soave - late spring frost, 200mm of rain falling in hours in May and June, then mid-summer heat - and Pieropan picked by eye in the vineyard rather than by the numbers.
