Yves Boyer-Martenot Bourgogne Blanc 2016

Get 10% off purchases of 12+ bottles of wine. (Use code 10OFF at checkout.)

A stunning older-vine white Burgundy sourced from three separate estate vineyards (plus some purchased fruit): ‘Sous la Velle’ half of which is rated Meursault village; ‘Les Pellans’ and ‘Les Grandes Coutures.’ Depth, power, complexity — and yes, it’s “just” a Bourgogne Blanc.

We have run out of stock for this item.

Soft-spoken Vincent Boyer is a man of few words. His family have been winegrowers in Meursault for four generations and own ten hectares of vineyards. Vincent has been the winemaker for about ten years, and the wines have taken a jump in quality since he came on board. Once again we see a new generation taking over and steadily improving quality with careful farming and better cellar techniques.

Boyer-Martenot made delicious wines from some of the most sought after sites. These wines are half the price of some of their more famous neighbors. Traditional methods, hand harvested, fermentations with indigenous yeasts, only 10% new oak, old vines - these are lovely wines.

"Here too the expressive nose is fresh and ripe though the aromatic profile is quite different with its array of white orchard fruit and petrol scent. There is a bit less energy but better richness to the slightly more complex, clean and dry finish that is refreshing and inviting. Lovely for what it is."
