Big Basin’s 2019 Howard Family Chardonnay comes from a cool, coastal site in Corralitos with 40-year-old Wente clone vines. Fermented with native yeasts, it spent 12 months in neutral oak, followed by 6 months in stainless, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The result is a textured yet vibrant Chardonnay with coastal lift and mineral depth. A precise, old-vine expression from the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Tucked away in the Santa Cruz Mountains on a historic vineyard site, Big Basin Vineyards since 1998 have carefully restored the vines that were first planted by French immigrants in the 1900s. These vineyards are cool climate, mountainous, and marine influenced - creating wines that are refreshing, balanced, and complex. The winery focuses on organic viticultural methods, harvesting low yields to maintain quality, and low intervention in the cellar - all of which produce wines that showcase the care and precision of the winemaking and grape growing.
