Orders placed with our San Francisco store will ship from San Francisco and orders placed with our New York store will ship from our New York store. You can change stores where it says "Shopping From" on the top right-hand corner of the page. You can't order from both stores in the same shopping cart, so it will empty out whenever you switch stores.
Subject to restrictions on inter-state shipping (see below), we send most of our shipments by Fedex Ground. Rates are as follows:
- Any orders placed with our San Francisco store will ship free to anywhere in California on orders of at least $149.
- Any orders placed with our New York store will ship free to anywhere in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Washington D.C. on orders of at least $149.
- All other orders will ship for $2.99 per bottle, subject to a minimum of $10.
Note that Fedex Ground shipments in the continental United States take from one to six business days, depending on the distance. If needed to avoid Fedex holding the wine in its warehouses over the weekend, we may wait until Monday to ship wine, unless you instruct us otherwise. If you need faster service, please Contact Us for rates or let us know where it says "Add a note to your order" in the shopping cart. Note that all Fedex deliveries will require an adult signature.
We cannot ship spirits or beer across state lines under any circumstance. Therefore, we may only deliver beer and spirits from our San Francisco shop to an address in California, and we may only deliver spirits from our New York shop to an address in New York State (the New York shop does not sell beer).
In addition, certain states from time to time regulate or prohibit the delivery of wine from out of state. We therefore cannot accept orders for shipment to certain states. The list of these "No-Ship States" changes from time to time as regulations change. Please feel free to call us if you have questions, but we currently are not able to ship to the following states:
Alabama (except to state stores), Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Louisiana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia.
As Amazon and other on-demand services have made same and next day deliveries the new standard, getting your wine to you safely, quickly, and in compliance with state and federal regulations has never been more challenging.
The following estimates are meant to serve as guidelines rather than guarantees. Some orders may take shorter and some orders may take longer to deliver, but in the interest of delivering the best customer experience possible, we wanted to be upfront about how long deliveries typically take and set the right expectation from the get-go.
We hope this helps, and do know that we are always searching for new ways to deliver your wine quickly, safely, and as cost-effectively as possible.

We deliver from our New York and San Francisco shops to their respective neighborhoods (within about a half-mile radius) for free. You may place your orders on-line, but for fastest service, please call us.
We also deliver via our own delivery vehicle, special courier or Fedex throughout New York City (for orders placed with our New York store) and San Francisco (for orders placed with our SF store). Our regular shipping rates apply: free on orders above $149, or $2.99 per bottle (subject to a minimum of $10). All local deliveries require an adult signature.
Free Store Pick-Up
At check-out, you may select free in-store pick-up. Be sure you know where you are shopping, as wines purchased at the SF store will only be available for pick-up in SF, and wines purchased at the NYC store will only be available for pick-up in NYC. Please allow about a day to make the wine available for pick-up (we will email you when it's ready), but you can always give us a call if you need faster service, and we will do our best.
Orders will be released only to an adult of at least 21 years of age with a State or Federal ID matching the name on the order. You may also be asked to present the credit card that was used to make the purchase.
Hold for Now
Instead of requesting that we deliver the wine to you or make it available for in-store pickup, you may, at check-out, instead request that we "hold for now" your order in in our warehouse/storage. You might do this for any of the following reasons:
- No adult is available to take delivery of the wine and you would like to wait until a later date for delivery.
- You are concerned about weather conditions and would like us to hold the wine for delivery pending more moderate weather.
- You have placed other orders with us and would like us to consolidate the orders.
- You have designated third-party couriers or storage companies that will transfer the wines from our warehouse to your account.
If you select Hold for Now at check-out, we ask that you provide us with a brief note in the shopping cart where it says "add a note to your order" to let us know what you'd like us to do with your wine or just follow up with an email. Either way, our warehouse staff may from time to time follow up with you to request instructions, and you can always reach out to them by calling our main shop numbers.
There is no cost for the transfer, and storage is free in our warehouse for up to three months. If we need to continue holding your wine beyond three months, we will charge a monthly fee of $10 per case for storage. Furthermore, any follow-up deliveries or store pick-ups that are made from the warehouse will be subject to the delivery charges and other restrictions outlined on this page.
Unless you instruct us otherwise in writing, we will not ship wine in extreme weather conditions. If you place an order with us and weather does not permit safe shipping, we will let you know by email that we are holding the wine in our temperature-controlled warehouse until the temperature moderates. No storage charges will apply for so long as weather does not permit safe shipping.
