What is this wine?
Chiappini’s Bolgheri Rosso “Felciaino” 2021 is a supple, expressive red blend from the Tuscan coast. Made from organically farmed Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc grown on the clay and sandy soils of Bolgheri, the wine is fermented with native yeasts and aged 12 months in French oak barrels (mostly used). The Chiappini family, based along the famed Via Bolgherese, has quietly earned a reputation for producing soulful, terroir-driven wines that rival the region’s icons for character and value.
Why get this wine?
Felciaino 2021 delivers the richness and polish of Bolgheri’s great reds—think Ornellaia and Guado al Tasso—but with remarkable balance and approachability. The 2021 vintage produced perfectly ripe fruit and lifted aromatics, resulting in a wine that combines depth with freshness. It’s a serious yet versatile Super Tuscan that overdelivers in every way.
What does this wine taste like?
Aromas of black cherry, plum, and cedar lead to a silky palate of ripe dark fruit, spice, and graphite. The tannins are fine and integrated, with a lingering, savory finish.
