The name Roulot is now a synonym for the very best wine that the village of Meursault can offer. It is rather remarkable when you consider that just 2 generations back the Roulot's were known as producers of Burgundian brandy and eau de vie. But Guy Roulot began leveraging the family's distilling success to purchase small plots of vines in Meursault and by the 1970's was known as a pioneer for producing top quality chardonnay from distinct parcels or ""lieu-dits"".

When Guy passed away unexpectedly in the early '80's his son Jean-Marc was pursuing acting in Paris. In 1989 he returned to take on the reigns of the small Domaine and in the following decades built on his father's success so well that the wines are now extremely hard to acquire and to afford for most of us.

Professional Reviews

Burghound

BH 91
"60% of the blend is from Clos de la Baronne with the rest from Les Crotots, Les Gruyaches, Vireuils and Sous la Velle. Much like the Champs Fulliot, this is quite floral in character with its aromas of pear and apple compote and citrus confit. The succulent, round and highly seductive medium weight flavors are not quite as refined but they are more generous and just as persistent on the lingering, balanced and solidly complex finale. This is a fine Meursault villages and worth a look." -Allen Meadows

"The 2023 Meursault Village has a tightly wound, very focused nose with walnut and hazelnut notes and a light sea spray scent joining the chorus line with aeration. The palate has a rounded texture and a keen line of acidity that maintains freshness. There's a touch of spice and chai toward the finish. The 2022 may have had more complexity at this stage." -Neal Martin

"Now including the domaine's southernmost holdings in Vireuils (which seems to help temper the softer profile of the Clos de la Baronne, its other main constituent), the 2023 Meursault Village exhibits notes of pear, pear and white flowers, followed by a medium-bodied, satiny and lfkehsy palate that's lively and charming." -William Kelley

"Tank sample. Mid-pale lemon. Light, citrus nose. High toned with a textured palate. The acidity follows through on the cheeks and gums. Bright and fresh."
