Heitz Cellar’s Trailside Vineyard Cabernet comes from eastern Rutherford, where volcanic soils meet alluvial fans. The 2017 vintage was vinified traditionally and aged four years in oak and bottle.

This wine shows red cherry, sage, cedar, and dusty earth with a polished, medium-bodied frame. A poised Napa Cabernet built for elegance and longevity.

Over three generations, Heitz Wine Cellars has helped define modern-day Napa Valley. Founded in 1961 by the late Joe Heitz and his wife Alice, the winery has built a reputation for producing world-class wines of distinction, including one of Napa’s benchmark Cabernet Sauvignons, the Martha’s Vineyard; a wine that James Laube from Wine Spectator has referred to as one of California’s “grands crus.”

During that 50 year span not much has changed at Heitz. Stylistically the wines have remained true to what made them world famous in the 1970s; powerful and concentrated but balanced with a vibrant nature and structure that allows them to age gracefully for decades. That structure and elegance is a Heitz trademark.

Wine Spectator

WS 93
"Stylish, with sleek, racy mulberry and warmed cassis notes that are nicely defined, laced liberally with red tea, anise and apple wood. Shows subtle mesquite, mint and iron flashes in the background throughout. Nicely done for the vintage."
