Unless you’re a devotee of Portuguese wine, you might not be familiar with the grape Baga — we’re hoping to change that! It’s an under-appreciated gem of the wine world, most often compared to Pinot Noir, both because it’s notoriously difficult to grow and because of its near unparalleled versatility.
Baga is grown primarily in the region of Bairrada, smack-dab in the center of Portugal. Bairrada’s clayey, chalky soils and proximity to the Atlantic create a perfect climate for complex, mineral-driven, multilayered wines, and Baga’s naturally high acidity and elegant tannins ensure freshness and balance.
