Part of a new generation of Beaujolais vignerons, the hands off approach of Pierre Cotton's winemaking was never up for debate — viticulture is organic, fermentation is done with native yeasts, and there's no fining or filtration. Pierre also eschews the use of sulfur; his wines are undoubtedly, vibrantly alive with an energy few winemakers are able to harness. And as of the 2020 vintage, Pierre is not working alone. His partner Marine Bonnet has joined the domaine officially, sparking a name change.
Like his Beaujolais forebears — Métras, Lapierre — these wines’ greatest attributes are their silky texture and playful fruit character. Yet underpinning the generous fruit and effortless drinkability is serious minerality, and lots of power.
