What is this wine?
Paltrinieri “Leclisse” Lambrusco di Sorbara 2022 is a sparkling red wine from Emilia-Romagna, Italy, made entirely from the delicate Lambrusco di Sorbara grape. The Paltrinieri family has farmed in Sorbara for three generations, and Alberto Paltrinieri is now recognized as one of the leading modern interpreters of this historic variety. “Leclisse” — meaning “the eclipse” — comes from estate vineyards near the village of Sorbara, where sandy soils lend the wines their trademark lift and finesse. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts, and the wine is finished using the Metodo Martinotti (tank method) to preserve its fresh, aromatic character.

Why get this wine?
“Leclisse” showcases Lambrusco at its most elegant — pale, fragrant, and dry, worlds away from the sugary versions of the past. Paltrinieri crafts this cuvée to express Sorbara’s delicate fruit and bright acidity, yielding a sparkling red that’s both sophisticated and joyful. It’s a benchmark for the style and one of Italy’s best-value sparkling wines.

What does this wine taste like?
Light and zesty, with notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, rose petal, and blood orange. Crisp and refreshing, with fine bubbles and a mouthwatering, dry finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Drink now through 2026. Serve well-chilled as an aperitivo or pair with charcuterie, prosciutto, or even spicy Asian fare. A perfect year-round sparkler.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 92
"The sweetly scented 2022 Lambrusco di Sorbara Leclisse opens with an airy blend of white smoke, young peach and crushed stone. This is nervous and edgy in feel, both soothing with its silken textures while exciting with nervous acidity and tart orchard fruits. It leaves the palate bone dry and salivating for more as sour melon notes fade." -Eric Guido

"Delicate aromas of fresh flowers, cherries, McIntosh apple and green herbs open the nose of this elegant sparkling wine. Tart strawberries, cranberries and a hint of vanilla crème give shape to the palate as the gentle perlage acts like silk on the palate."
