"The 2012 Joanin Bécot is dark, open and quite seductive. Black cherry, plum, spice and leather all meld together in a very pretty, gracious wine with soft contours to drink now and over the next handful of years. The 2012 is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Jean-Philippe Fort is the consulting winemaker. This is a gorgeous wine that delivers superb quality as well as value." -Vinous

"This property continues to make terrific value wines. The 2012, a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, is a major sleeper of the vintage. Gorgeous, plump black cherry, kirsch and blackcurrant fruit mixed with incense, licorice and spice jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple wine. Fleshy, opulent and a dead ringer for a top Pomerol, this beauty from the Becot family is once again a major over-achiever." -Robert Parker

"The wine has serious tannins and firm fruit that give an austere character at this stage. But it will develop and round out into a rich wine with ripe black fruits, always with a solid tannic structure. Owner Juliette Bécot manages the technical side here with consultant Jean-Philippe Fort from the Michel Rolland lab, and manages marketing at classed-growth Château Beauséjour-Bécot in nearby Saint-Émilion."
