Château Latour-Martillac is a Cru Classé estate in Pessac-Léognan, long owned by the Kressmann family. The 2022 red is a classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, sourced from gravel and clay-limestone soils. A warm, early vintage produced ripe, concentrated fruit.

Each parcel was vinified separately, and the wine was aged 12 months in French oak, 40% new. It offers cassis, graphite, and tobacco with firm tannins and vibrant acidity. A polished, ageworthy Graves red with mineral drive and finesse.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 93
"The 2022 Latour-Martillac is s powerful, brooding wine, just as it was en primeur. A blast of dark red fruit, leather, spice, dried herbs and licorice are all delineated in the glass. The 2022 packs a pretty intense punch. A few years in bottle will help to some degree." -Vinous

Robert Parker

RP 92
"The 2022 Latour Martillac is darker and more somber than during the en primeur tasting, revealing aromas of spices, dark berries and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, round and supple, it's juicy with good depth at the core, an assertive tannic frame and a long, ethereal, delicately spicy finish. This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot." -Yohan Castaing

Wine Spectator

WS 94
"Youthfully compact, with its core of red and black currant preserve sitting behind a mix of warm tar, alder and chestnut notes. Dark tobacco and leather notes stretch out the finish and add a textural element as well, as the fruit keeps pace. Solid. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2027 through 2040."

Wine Enthusiast

WE 94
"This is a beautifully balanced wine, with its truffle and spice aroma leading to black fruit and licorice flavors. With its great potential, the wine should be ready from 2028." -Roger Voss
