At Cantalapiedra Viticultores, they do things very differently. Amanuel Cantalapiedra and his father Isaac work 21 hectares of vineyards spread over several plots in the municipality of La Seca, Castilla y Leon, Spain. At Cantalapiedra, vineyards are certified organic and their winemaking is resolutely natural. 30 year old verdejo vines grow in a complex mixture of pebble, sand & clay over Limestone. They of course craft exceptional verdejo but they also grow red varieties just across the border in Toro. They work with Garnacha and Tinta de Toro, the local name for Tempranillo.
