What is this wine?
Domaine Henri Boillot is one of Burgundy’s benchmark producers, especially renowned for crystalline, terroir-driven whites from the Côte de Beaune. Les Perrières is Meursault’s most celebrated premier cru—often described as “grand cru in all but name”—thanks to its limestone-rich soils that yield Chardonnay of tension, elegance, and great aging capacity. The 2017 vintage was a classic year for white Burgundy, producing fresh, precise wines with excellent balance after the warmer 2015 and 2016 vintages.

Why get this wine?
Boillot’s Perrières is one of the finest examples of this fabled site, showing his hallmark style of clarity, structure, and mineral depth. The 2017 vintage highlights Perrières’ finesse and energy, offering a wine that is both accessible earlier than some vintages yet built to evolve gracefully in the cellar. For collectors, this is a reference-point Meursault.

What does this wine taste like?
Lemon zest, pear, and white peach with layers of hazelnut, acacia blossom, and chalk. Focused and mineral, with vibrant acidity and a long, saline finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Best 2023–2037. Decant if drinking now to unlock aromatics. Perfect with lobster, scallops, roast poultry, or aged cheeses.

"There is a suggestion of mandarin orange adding breadth to the acacia blossom and mineral reduction-suffused nose. I very much like the intensity, richness and volume of the medium-bodied flavors that are stony to the point of seeming as though you're rolling small pebbles around your mouth, all wrapped in a citrusy and wonderfully persistent finish where a touch of wood slowly emerges. This is seriously impressive."

"Pale, bright yellow. Reticent, very pure scents of underripe pineapple, white peach and crushed stone. Like the previous Meursault samples, this boasts lovely purity and suavity; it verges on opulent while delivering an almost weightless impression. Quite closed today and not revealing its inherent personality but its acidity and saline minerality are already perfectly integrated. The longest of these 2017s to this point, but this backward Perrières will need at least a few years in bottle to display its minerality." -Stephen Tanzer

"Boillot's 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is superb, and one of the highlights of the range this year, unfurling in the glass with notes of lemon oil, crisp green apple, struck flint and smoky reduction. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, stony and tensile, with considerable depth, concentration and chewy dry extract. It's indelibly marked by the site that produced it." -William Kelley
